Janet is a native of Virginia and although her family traveled extensively when she was young, she remained enamored of her home state and its incredible beauty, history and culture.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, she has a background in business development and marketing. Her decision to remain in Charlottesville and raise her children here led her to buy a horse farm and breed horses so she could stay home with her children. Following a decade of farming she formed an exclusive, high-end marketing company that specialized in supporting local charitable events while providing exposure and community involvement for clients such as Porsche and BMW. After a number of years running her own business, she went on to become the Director of Development for the Virginia Film Festival at the University of Virginia, a lifelong love of film combined with the many community connections she had made it a natural fit. Following her time at the Film Festival, Janet immersed herself in the real estate market, having always been fascinated by real estate and construction since buying her first house in 1981 and doing extensive renovations on the properties she has owned since, as well as managing construction projects for her clients. Her latest effort as a Project Director, The Haven at First and Market, was the adaptive reuse of a 15,000 sf historic church in Downtown Charlottesville built in 1895 into a centralized resource center for the homeless and working poor.
